Weekend Snapshot #23

have you done your pumpkin patch trip already?

Looks like we're missing it this year.
With the hectic Halloween Week schedule we have, I doubt if we'll still catch up with this tradition.

I'm sure my boy will be very disappointed but he will have a good time looking at real dinosaurs and real planes come next weekend.

Happy WS everyone!

Hi Mind Bubbles...

Here is a short letter for this blog:

Hi MB,
So sorry if I haven't been blogging here for almost a week. I am even thinking of giving you up but of course, I cannot. You see, I have been really busy with things and this blog from among my other blogs is the one that has no direction. Simply because you are a working blog. But, don't worry, I'll make it up to you :). For now, here's my hyper test from Blogthings. Hope you like it.

Admin.

You Are 70% Hyper

You have a high amount of energy, but you're not manic about it.

You live a busy, full, and productive life.

You enjoy all sorts of activities, and you approach most tasks with enthusiasm.

You are also naturally social. You have plenty of time and resources to devote to friends.

While you are quite hyper, you do understand the importance of rest.

It's difficult to get yourself to slow down, but when you do, you enjoy it.

on branding

Have you ever wondered how much time and effort a certain retail company spends on Branding? I do. I find it a big marketing strategy when a company knows how to make their brand on top of their competitors. Sometimes I am guilty of buying a product because of its brand, are you not? Or because that certain product seems to be very reliable and has been leading in their certain industry, consumers tend to buy them irregardless of the make, design and even price. So that is how important branding could be. I remember a friend of mine who was about to put up a retail accessories shop and she asked for my help in terms of naming her products, conceptualizing the logo and naming her brand. We had a long time researching and even conducted a mini-survey from among our colleagues, friends and relatives. It took us weeks to come up with the perfect name. Had I known of this certain site where you could easily check if your brand is marketable or saleable, it would have been easier on our part. The online site I am talking about is: brandidentityguru.com. You might want to check it out and learn more on branding and marketing.

Manic Monday (191008)

How long does it take you to get out of bed in the morning?
***Less than 5 minutes because I have a very demanding toddler hee.

Do you usually sleep on one side of the bed or another?
***Yes siree! I used to be on all sides of the bed but when you started to share it with an energetic toddler and snorring husband, you'd learn to stay on one place hee. Thank God, the little boy now sleeps on his own room.

Something you wish to accomplish before the end of the year?
***Go to New York and meet my target weight of 110!

nice to know: 10 reasons why you're not (FILTHY) rich!

I chanced upon this article and thought I would share. This is very fitting in our current global economic crisis. They say that at this time all we need to do is save and save and save some more :)

10 (More) Reasons You're Not Rich
by Jeffrey StrainWednesday, October 1, 2008 provided by The Street

Many people assume they aren't rich because they don't earn enough money. If I only earned a little more, I could save and invest better, they say.

The problem with that theory is they were probably making exactly the same argument before their last several raises. Becoming a millionaire has less to do with how much you make, it's how you treat money in your daily life.

The list of reasons you may not be rich doesn't end at 10. Caring what your neighbors think, not being patient, having bad habits, not having goals, not being prepared, trying to make a quick buck, relying on others to handle your money, investing in things you don't understand, being financially afraid and ignoring your finances.

Here are 10 more possible reasons you aren't rich:

You care what your car looks like: A car is a means of transportation to get from one place to another, but many people don't view it that way. Instead, they consider it a reflection of themselves and spend money every two years or so to impress others instead of driving the car for its entire useful life and investing the money saved.

You feel entitlement: If you believe you deserve to live a certain lifestyle, have certain things and spend a certain amount before you have earned to live that way, you will have to borrow money. That large chunk of debt will keep you from building wealth.

You lack diversification: There is a reason one of the oldest pieces of financial advice is to not keep all your eggs in a single basket. Having a diversified investment portfolio makes it much less likely that wealth will suddenly disappear.

You started too late: The magic of compound interest works best over long periods of time. If you find you're always saying there will be time to save and invest in a couple more years, you'll wake up one day to find retirement is just around the corner and there is still nothing in your retirement account.

You don't do what you enjoy: While your job doesn't necessarily need to be your dream job, you need to enjoy it. If you choose a job you don't like just for the money, you'll likely spend all that extra cash trying to relieve the stress of doing work you hate.

You don't like to learn: You may have assumed that once you graduated from college, there was no need to study or learn. That attitude might be enough to get you your first job or keep you employed, but it will never make you rich. A willingness to learn to improve your career and finances are essential if you want to eventually become wealthy.

You buy things you don't use: Take a look around your house, in the closets, basement, attic and garage and see if there are a lot of things you haven't used in the past year. If there are, chances are that all those things you purchased were wasted money that could have been used to increase your net worth.

You don't understand value: You buy things for any number of reasons besides the value that the purchase brings to you. This is not limited to those who feel the need to buy the most expensive items, but can also apply to those who always purchase the cheapest goods. Rarely are either the best value, and it's only when you learn to purchase good value that you have money left over to invest for your future.

Your house is too big: When you buy a house that is bigger than you can afford or need, you end up spending extra money on longer debt payments, increased taxes, higher upkeep and more things to fill it. Some people will try to argue that the increased value of the house makes it a good investment, but the truth is that unless you are willing to downgrade your living standards, which most people are not, it will never be a liquid asset or money that you can ever use and enjoy.

You fail to take advantage of opportunities: There has probably been more than one occasion where you heard about someone who has made it big and thought to yourself, "I could have thought of that." There are plenty of opportunities if you have the will and determination to keep your eyes open.

flurries, flakes, snow

I was talking to my friend, C this morning and she was telling me that it's getting colder and colder in Chicago. Also, she said that her newly-purchased CRV is just ready for the big snowfall this year. She does not need to worry about snowmobile parts as her car is equipped with everything that would make her safe while on a snowy road. I am just glad that hubby had to move here because I do not think I would be able to survive the windy chilly city of Chicago. How about you?

how's the weather?

My Saturday went by very slow and lazy! All I did was snuggled and dozed off under our freshly-washed sheets. I was even too lazy to whip some good hot meals that would match the cold and chilly weather. So, we took out KFC chicken and Papa John's Pizza. You would be surprised that I can't barely eat when the weather is cold, this explains why during the Winter season, I lost a lotta weight. No need for Leptovox or diet. Oh well, I guess I just have to enjoy the snow, the bundling up and the holidays despite this depressing weather.

Follow the way to my heart.
Money is something I always take with me on vacation.
To achieve your goals, you must be patient, pray a lot and work hard.
My other skill is something I'd like you to know about me.
I have a long list of todos over the weekend which includes accompanying hubby's cousin for his regular acne treatment appointment.
HOPE floats.
And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to pizza dinner, tomorrow my plans include major house cleaning and Sunday, I want to finish my school homework!

This photo did not require any outdoor lighting. I caught it by chance! Happy WW to all!

What is it with Asian countries that they have always been an exciting place to visit.
They have all the sparks and adventures a world traveller seeks.

I have always loved this place, not only because of its exotic dishes and cheap shopping finds but because this place hold a special place in my heart.
This is where we spent our honeymoon.

knowing your rights.

My college friend, P has a husband who works fulltime on a seaship. I am amazed by how they withstood their relationship despite being together only for a couple of months each year. They are currently saving up for their home and my friend has put up a microbusiness. She said that when her business became very stable and that the house they are building will be done, her husband will seek retirement err resignation (he's still young). An incident that almost made them contact a maritime attorney has led to this decision. I hope they reach all their goals very very soon!

something right.

When I started doing make-up professionally, I realized that I have done something right. A passion that has been hiding for so long. However, when we moved here I have to choose between my family and this passion. It would be great to go to schools similar to those beauty schools in colorado in order to enhance my skill and (little) talent but that would require a big deal of time. I guess, I have to wait till my kids are big enough, not needing of me 24/7. This passion can rest and wait but my young family's milestones are something to look forward to each day.

knock, knock, who's there?

Let me just rant about courier delivery men who deliver on apartments/townhomes similar to our place. They knock so loud and short but leave so soon! This happens to me several times when I was just about to open the door, they fled too fast! Their maximum number of knocks is 3, really!

This afternoon they left a note again. I need that book for my discussion this week and they have to come back on Monday for delivery sigh! Why don't they trust our neighbors and just leave it on my frikkin door tsk tsk.

  2. >>>When bad things happen to my good friends and they came running to me for advice, I feel so helpless that I cannot do anything except a big hug or baking them a sweet potato casserole.

>>>I love Guitar Hero, I did not know I could be a rock star at the comforts of my own home hee.
>>>I feel it's a trend that is bound to happen (regarding music downloads).

getting sporty

Guess what, I am one happy person because I just weighed in a couple of hours ago and I lost another 2 lbs! Whee! I guess my being a goat aka eating only greens with a little bit of protein (fish, pork and chicken) on my salad truly paid off. I also noticed that I do not get hungry easily. Apples do get me full most of the time. Hubby was even kidding me that if I keep on getting bigger and bigger, he would buy us a set of NFL Jerseys and every Sunday, I would play Basketball with him. Yay! I am not really a sporty kind of girl moreso I do not enjoy basketball. This probably explains why cellulites start to build up on me because of lack of activity. However, in the past months, I have been struggling to get back to my old weight by not eating rice and by working out for at least 30 minutes every day. So far, I have seen tremendous improvement but I have to double time on my working out routine so as to get rid of my big tummy. How about you, have you been getting active lately?

art storage

My friend's brother is starting to be a known artist in Manila. In fact he already appeared in some of the tv shows where he promotes his art collections as well as some of the popular tv shows are featuring him not only because several celebrities have bought his works but because they're really unique and one of a kind. In fact, hubby wants to purchase a painting from him. He has been bugging my friend to bid one of her brother's painting. Hahaha! But knowing it to be very costly, I don't think we can afford it now. However, one of the major concerns was how to transport those delicate art pieces from Manila to U.S. Then I found out about this Art Storage Company. They ship, store and transport delicate art pieces from all sizes. I think getting their service is a wise decision especially for art collectors. On our case, we only want a piece of two for our future house, but definitely this is out of the budget now. Though owning one is really an investment but we could settle with something simple now. But, of course we welcome a lower bid rate for my friend’s brother’s painting hee hee!

Wordless Wednesday #19

I could go back here every month.
If only time and distance were not some things to consider.
Definitely, the happiest place on earth.
Have a good Wednesday Y'all!

Made to Measure

As I was watching our wedding video this morning (yes I watch the video from time to time), I can't helped but notice how dashing my male entourage were, who happens to be the bestest friends of hubby. Their suit all look liked they were Made to Measure! No kidding, I am so loving their attire. They all look so neat and very handsome. If you should see them now, most of them (including hubby's) is sporting bigger tummies haha! Anyhow, it is indeed therapeutic and very heartwarming to watch wedding videos from time to time especially if you have fights with your partner, check out your albums and videos and reminisce the good times.

Anyways, speaking of suit, I happened to chanced upon this My Suit Experience from UpscaleMenswear.com. If you are looking for a made-to-measure suits at off-the-rack prices and FAST turn-around times, visit their site and make an appointment. You can choose the specific style and even the type of fabric to be used. Suits prices start at $495, not really bad for a made-to-order. Check it out now and make an appointment here: http://www.mysuitny.com/make_an_appointment.asp. Who knows that is the Christmas gift your partner or spouse is wishing for.

Weekend Snapshot #20

I am not a big fan of sunrise and sunsets but lately, I have been bugging hubby to watch one from our patio. He said no as it would be too cold for sunset watching these days. Hmmm, maybe I'd do it on my own before winter sets in.

Happy WS everyone!

You Are the Mother

You have an abundance of love for humanity. You care about all the people of the world.

You love helping others more than anything else. You love to be needed.

At your best, you unconditionally love people. You are very nurturing.

You are a wise and gentle teacher. You are happy to guide anyone who needs your advice or explanations.

At your worst, you are controlling and overbearing.

You smother people with affection and gifts. And with this attention you give, you are expecting something in return.

I do not clearly remember when my dad started out to become so passionate about herbal medicines and beverages such as kratom. He was so much into it that he would even force us with some of his herbal beverages. yay! Until he realized that we would never try any of those in our lifetime hee. Anyhow, I remember that part of his life because I chanced upon kratomshop.com. For all of you who are into organic herbs, you can check out the site. I used to invest on some nice piece of jewelry when I was younger. But, when I discovered my love on designer bags, jewelry purchases was set aside. However, I am so tempted to get a piece from www. Holstedjewelers.com. They have exclusively designed jewelry, gifts and accessories to millions of satisfied customers. You would be assured of adherence to strict quality-assurance guidelines as every item is created to the highest standards, then inspected twice before it arrives at your door. I love all of their cutting edges and very classic designs. We'll see if I have a budget for this year.

long saturday

I have a long Saturday ahead of me. I wish I could hire a nanny or househelp who help me out with my homemaker and mommy duties but these type of services are just so expensive here. Anyways, I just want to greet everyone a Happy Weekend and I hope you're not as busy as mine :).

These past years, laparoscopic surgery is becoming to be more and more popular. People are requesting it because it is left with less noticeable scars, smaller incisions=less chance of infection, and quicker recovery. If you are looking for a laparoscopy surgeons, you may wanto check out Dr. Miklos and Dr. Moore.

logic and math.

My previous course requires a lot of logic and math and boy was it so hard! I am just grateful to have B mark at the end of the quarter. I really hate math. But I love numbers and money, but the whole computing and accounting, aw that's not my cup of tea. So I was surprised when I made it to the finance section of my previous employer, but I had fun there as we used accounting software. Simila to the accounting software for restaurants which is provided by Desicion Logic. This site, decision-logic.com aimed at restaurant owners/managers who may benefit from a proven enterprise management system designed specifically for the hospitality industry.

what to blog...

I am the type of blogger who needs inspiration everytime I write something.

Last night, I was trying to blog and finish my tasks but my mind wasn't working :(.
So I shut down my laptop early and watch DVDs with my boys. When I woke up today, I was able to blog 10 tasks in an hour! Yey :).

So advice to all the probloggers out there, sleep it over when you can't blog anymore :).

lasik eye surgery

My friend, F who recently got her lasik eye surgery is so happy with the outcome. She was quite hesitant at first but after reading information from lalasik.com and some recommendations from friends, she bravely took one. I guess lasik eye surgery is becoming to be more and more popular these days. Who doesn't want their perfect vision back without contact lens and eyeglasses, right?
